Organ stop + pizza + camping

What a fun day.  We set up the tent for the kids for one last hurrah before the summer heat sets in.  It has been an unseasonably cool May, but I love it.  David will sleep outside with the kids and me inside with Jacob. It is beautiful  out.
We also took the kids to Organ stop pizza for dinner.  We met Wayne,  Linda and kids, Jason, Marsha, and kids, and Mom and Dad Mower. Brooklyn danced and when it started playing the song "somewhere over the Rainbow" Brooklyn  exclaimed  "I love my little pony song". Jacob just hung out the whole time.  Alexis and Timothy  watched in amazement.   There is a "wurlitzer" organ that also controls a whole building  full of instruments, lights, and even a bubble  machine.  The guy who plays is pretty  amazing  and knows tons of songs from memory.
Now we are home and the kids are preparing to sleep in the tent.  They all have their flashlights and sleeping bags. David was taking longer to come out than Timothy  could handle and said he was sure "Dad fell asleep in the bathroom".  Timothy is super excited to learn some card games.
I remember  playing  card games all night camping in the backyard when I was little.  We did it often and loved it.  I also remember  reading the book "Bunicula".  Random memories  but good memories.   I hope my kids  have fun memories of these times too.

The inevitable

Tonight my phone rang... And when I answered it was not for me.  The inevitable has happened... It was Olivia calling to talk to Alexis.  I handed her the phone and she proceeded to have a cute conversation about who was assigned to what teacher for next year.  Alexis was so excited to talk on the phone and held my cell phone to her face in such a funny way.  It is clear that this generation doesn't know how to use a phone like a phone... They only text or game on the phones.
The next conversation was between David and I.  We have never had a land line in our home... EVER... In our entire marriage. Is it time?  Do we get a home "cell phone"?  I'm so not ready for this!  And did I mention that tonight was meet the teacher for their teachers next school year... And Alexis is going into 5th grade!  What!?  Shut the front door!?  How did that happen!?  And Timothy in second grade.  It's all to much.
So... Land line or cell phone?  Craziness!

Mother's Day 2015

Yesterday was Mother's day.  It was a good... but tiring day.  Poor Jacob has been so sick that I have gotten very little sleep the past week.  Church is at 8am... so I was a wee bit tired in the morning. So tired in fact... that I didn't even wake when Alexis brought me breakfast in bed.  I wish I had gotten a picture of it...
Alexis basically outlined my sleeping body with boxes of cereal... then brought up a spoon and bowl. I think she took the concept of "breakfast in bed" literally.  She cracks me up.
Both Alexis and Timothy made me sweet pictures and cards.  David got me a necklace with a family in a circle on it.  Two parents and four kids.  He also got me a hybiskiss plant.  It is my favorite flower.
We also got to skype Rebekah on her mission.  She is doing well and looks so happy.  It was nice to catch up and hear all her fun stories.
We rounded out the day with dinner at the Mower family house.  Steak and potatoes.  A good day.
I am so grateful for my four beautiful munchkins.  They mean the world to me.

Not my little boy

Typically before I go to bed I check on the kids.  The kids have all been sick the past few days so it was a nice change to find them all in their beds sleeping.
When I checked on Timothy I was struck by how big he looked.  His body filled a big portion of the bed.  It was a sudden realization that he isn't my little boy any more.  He is growing up to fast.  It makes me sad.  Where did the time go?  How much time did I waste?  I need to make sure to spend my time more wisely so I don't blink and find all my bedrooms empty and my kids moved on.  Tonight I wish time would stand still or move just a little slower.  My babies are growing and I can't keep up.  Extra hugs in the morning.
Goodnight my sweeties.

Before i forget

Today after Brooklyn finished her bath she told me she had to go to the bathroom.  I humored her and sat her on the toilet... But this time she actually went!  Hooray for Brooklyn using the bathroom for the first time.  I thought it was noteworthy.

Overextended

I feel like Gumby as of late.  I am being pulled in so many directions at the same time.  I have so much to get done in the next few days that it is a bit overwhelming.
On Thursday I have a relief society activity... At the same time as Alexis school recital.  Thankfully David has the day off and can take her.  I feel bad missing it but I don't know what else to do.
James and Wendi get here on Thursday as well so the day was spent getting sleep arrangements figured out.  I feel like I live a blurry anymore.  I'm wondering how much "merry maids" cost to help me stay afloat.   Maybe someday.  I keep hearing the phrase "hastening the work" and today I feel it.

A day of rest-ish

Today we got to sleep in.  Okay... Well we could have at least. Today was the Gilbert temple dedication.  We went to the 3p session.  Alexis was able to attend and she was so excited.  Being a big kid has been a big thing for her. She tries to be so grown up and in reality she really is growing up to fast.  She left the dedication with a huge smile and said she felt so happy. It was priceless to be part of the dedication with her.
A few things I was prompted to work on:  better temple attendance, family history, better relationship with Timothy, and more spiritual time at home.
Time to focus on what matters most.  Good day overall.  Especially after I got my migraine under control.  Now to sleep with a system full of caffeine... But at least my head doesn't feel like it is exploding.  Moving forward and onward.  Tomorrow will be a busy one.
