Memorial Weekend

What an eventful weekend we had. My family is in good ol' Yuma and we decided to go visit. This was our first official trip with two kids. I must say that whoever made the DVD portable is a hero! It makes our trips so much easier. Alexis loves her movies and well Timothy loves his naps. It was a surprisingly easy trip.

The weather was actually cold for May. The highs were only in the 80's! For Yuma that is very unusual. We still got out the slip and slide and inflated the pool to play though. My sisters are younger (12 and 14) so Alexis loves to follow them around. They can match her energy level so they can get into lots of trouble. Timothy put on his swim gear, but we decided to add water to the mix would probably be a bit much for him. Maybe when it warms up more we'll go for a dip.

My mom has an out of control garden too. Alexis helped her pick squash, strawberries and beans. She enjoys the strawberries best, and they never make it to the basket past her mouth. There were also grapes but they weren't quite ripe yet. My parents also have a mini farm as we call it. They now have four chickens they've added to their collection and while we were there two baby doves hatched. So when you add those to two dogs, many fish, and a turtle... it truly is a mini farm... We're just waiting for them to get some mini goats.

It was also my brother-in-laws first birthday in the states, so my sisters wanted to make it a memorable one. They made a pinata and played some games. We also played bingo. My mom uses funny things for prizes like canned chicken and pasta. Good times.

We are now back to reality, but it was a fun relaxing weekend... I think...

Isn't it fun to have siblings that are still young? I have a sister who is fourteen and visiting with Trevor when she's around is the best vacation I'll ever get!

I'm glad your car ride was uneventful. I remember when my parents bought their first "portable TV/VCR" for car rides. It was a monster-sized box that somehow balanced on our console. I've never seen my mom so excited about a purchase for the family and now I understand why.
