4th of July Weekend Recap

(My brother with his new daughter Claire)
Last Thursday (July 3rd) we took the wonderful trip to Yuma. My sister and I were able to leave a bit early and were able to arrive before sunset. It was a nice and surprisingly uneventful drive. It was a fun weekend. My grandma Harris was able to see Timothy for the first time and we got to see our new neice Claire for the first time. She is such a cutie.
On the 4th my dad Barbequed Carne asada and it was mighty tasty. We stayed at my parents house and watched fireworks. When we heard the booms from the first of the fireworks my first instinct was to duck and cover. Pretty sad what a paranoid person i've become. Alexis and I went in the pool but the water was so warm. Crazy how that happens. Alexis also played hard with her aunts Rebekah and Michaela. They had a mini parade with wagons and had a grand time.

On Saturday my sister Michaela built a "cookie shop" out of cardboard boxes and all the girls sold cookies out of it. I think they made some pretty good cash. Alexis enjoyed that so much that she fell asleep in it at nap time. We also went to play at the one and only Yuma splash park. It was pretty sad looking and we didn't stay long.
The best part of the visit though was BINGO. We are starting a new family tradition of playing bingo when we get together. We play blackout and every time you get a bingo you pick a prize from the prizes. It is lots of fun. Our prizes range from food storage to little toys. Everyone loves to play and it can get competetive. One of the prizes was a little hummingbird feeder that attached to the window. My sister Mindy won that prize and said she was going to place it on her second story appartment window. My grandma remarked, "Can birds fly that high?" We all laughed so hard. My grandma says some pretty random things. Another prize was some almost expired "beans and weenies". My mom then says, "I wonder what expires first.... the beans or weenies?" She was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. I think it is fair to say "Fun times had by all".

We also played water balloon volleyball... filling some full sized water balloons. It was like trying to toss and catch a bowling ball. Note for future games... bad idea.
In more recent news, Timothy rolled from his tummy to his back yesterday. He also seems to be getting teeth already. Yeah for me. He is also sitting on his own pretty well. Sure growing fast. He is already 4 months old. Time flies.

Alexis is testing her limits, and frustrating me in the process. She also is making sure that Timothy is getting his share of discipline. She'll put her face right in his face and being a baby, he'll grab her hair. She then screams and says to me, "Mom, Timothy pulled my hair. Tell him no and to tell me sorry." She doesn't get that he is just a baby still and learning to control his hands. Funny how they don't understand what seem to be such simple concepts. I guess one concept at a time.

The cookie workshop is very ingenious and cant beat the price of cardboard. Isnt having a day off like the Fourth nice. I had so much fun. We went up to Mt Lemmon and spent the night in a cabin. We should get together again soon. It has been so sticky outside I havent wanted to go anywhere.
