Let it Snow!

At the beginning of the month we took a "mini vacation" up to the snow. After the big storms went through Flagstaff we decided we had to go visit the snow. All Alexis could talk about was how much she missed and loved the snow. She loved every second of it.
We started out at Walmart looking for gear to keep the kids warm. They had super cheap snow bibs and snow boots. The only color in the right size for Timothy was pink... but he loves the color pink, so we went for it. We didn't feel so bad, when later on the X games a male snowboarder had bright pink pants on. Apparently we were ahead of the game and didn't even know it. The kids kept super warm and dry so we were able to play extra long in the snow.
On Friday we went to a park where there were some fun hills but the snow was super deep. David thought it was a good idea to send the two kids down a slope by themselves, but they face planted into the snow and Timothy was leery of going down the hills for awhile. I can't say I blame him.

Saturday in the snow was awesome. We went to "wing mountain" where they had lots of hills for sledding and there were lots of people there. It was littered with people who were not all the smartest. So many people would stand at the bottom of the hills and not move when people were flying down the hill towards them. It was a bit annoying. It is even more fun when you have no control over the sled or the direction it is flying.
There was one hill in particular that was SUPER tall and had lots of speed behind it. David and Katelynn attempted it first with no injuries or incidents. Then they convinced me that I had to try it before we left. I gave in to peer pressure and went. I didn't fare as well. When I had reached maximum velocity my sled (a circular disc sled) turned around so I was facing backward. I didn't see what was coming. There was a kid at the bottom that didn't move and my back hit his feet and I haven't been in such pain in a long time. I put my back out and it took about a week to even be able to walk without pain. It was a fun ride... but a much less enjoyable end.
Before we left, Alexis HAD to make a snowman. She loves snowmen and had a great time building and decorating her snowman. She is so proud of her creation. Below is a picture of her hugging him before we had to leave. She also made a small snowman but wanted to make sure she made one as tall as her.
Above is Timothy in his stylish pink pants throwing a snow ball. He thought it was super funny to hit people with snow. His first experience in the snow was pretty good. He seemed to have fun at least.
Below is a picture of the trees. They were BEAUTIFUL. I would love to wake up to this.

Like the picture above shows... the snow really was that deep. It made it near impossible to walk through...
And then you have little miss Katelynn. She is so easy to photograph... I guess being so beautiful makes it easy. I love her simple yet elegant style and she is always such fun to have around.

Everyone had a great time and I could get used to these little vacations. We spent a fortune on sleds, boots, hotel, food, etc... but now that we have most the snow gear, next time will be much easier. When I asked Alexis her favorite part she said it was building a snowman. My favorite part was seeing how excited she was as we drove up the mountain and the snow started to appear out her window. She had a magical glow in her eyes. It was priceless. And now with the Olympics being on Alexis is requesting to go skiing and ice skating. I think we'll have to add that to our list of adventures. She said that someday she'll let me watch her on TV while she competes in the Olympics. And she also informed me that if she falls she will get back up and keep practicing.

Well I made it through this post. My laptop shut down so many times I lost count. I have been having real issues with my laptop and it is driving me mad. There are so many pictures on it that the hard drive is full. I am in the process of moving the pictures to an external hard drive so it will hopefully fix the issue. If not... I might have a nice big paperweight...

The snow was great... and now it is back to the best weather in the country... for this time of year at least. Hooray.

cute pictures! Though I was wondering where any pictures of you were and then I found one (at least I think it is you walking through the snow). I like Timothy in pink.
