Today it was official. We are out a big chunk of change because of ANOTHER builder bad install on our Tucson house. There is nothing worse than still paying for a house you can't enjoy. The day after Christmas we received a call from our management company saying there was a huge leak in the main water pipe to the house. With little information and no options we had to get the pipe fixed. It has been almost a month since the incident. I am so frustrated with our management company. They have done NOTHING but cost us money. I ask for explanations of charges, what caused the pipe to break and many other questions with no response. It took me three weeks to just get a copy of the plumbing invoice... which also had no information. Finally I called the plumbing company that fixed the pipe myself. It took me 10 minutes to get the information I had been begging to get for three weeks.
After talking to the plumber I was very angry. We just paid for a repair that should have been fixed by the builder at no cost. Had I known what the leak problem was in the first place I could have contacted the builder to fix it... but the management company wouldn't give me any info. I then contacted our home builder to see if I could get them to cough up the money. No such luck. They said they would have looked at the original problem and fixed it if it was their error (at no cost to us), but would not reimburse us the money. ARGH!
So what is the lesson I've learned? If you want something done right, do it yourself. Management companies are just that... a business out to make money.... and I'm tired of giving them my money! The house in Tucson is the painful lesson that just won't disappear. Blah!
Side Note: I noticed I haven't posted pictures in a LONG time. I will post pictures on my next post and that will include some from our fun trip to the snow that starts tomorrow! Woot Woot!! Can't wait for the mini retreat.

Expensive lessons suck. I think everyone who bought a house while the market was high is paying for it right now.
Yuck! I'm sorry about that. I would fire that company. You're only 100 miles away and have many friends here who would be willing to stop by if there is an absolute emergency! It'd save you a lot of money in the long run. Good luck!
hey! we are gonna be in the same boat soon. keith is being transferred to phoenix and we know we will never sell this house. i think we are just going to try to rent it out and manage it ourselves. blah!
