"Pet Friendly"

So I don't often go on rants about certain things, but today this is my big issue. When I drive around town I always see these "Pet Friendly" signs posted at apartments. Our apartment complex is one of those friendly apartments... but I think they are only friendly to pets and definitely not families. Our apartment is three bedrooms so you'd think there would be lots of families living in this complex.
I get so frustrated with how un-family friendly this complex is. There is no common area for kids to play that is not covered in dog poo! The dogs rule this complex. It is DISGUSTING! Every night to get the kids out of the house, we try to go on a short walk around the complex before picking up the mail. The kids always try to venture off the path (sidewalk) to go exploring. I try to keep them on the path because every last inch of this place is covered in landmines (dog poo). Tonight Timothy just took a few steps off the path before tripping and landing with his hands in a landmine. For REAL!? EWWWWW! It is maddening! They even provide bags to pick up after your dogs!
I guess I can't blame the dogs... It is the darn owners who don't pick up after the dogs. If you have a dog... PICK UP AFTER IT... and if you don't... I hope you land in it with your hands!
It would be nice if they had just one lawn area that said, "NO DOGS" so the kids could play outside. That is just wishful thinking and I guess the only solution to my problem is to move.
SOoooo.... here's to June! You can't come soon enough and maybe someday apartments will have a sign that reads, "Family Friendly".... until then... we must stay ON the path.
